Cosimo Hansen Atelier

A NOTE

Journal

COSIMO HANSEN ATELIER is an artisanal clothing atelier centered around reclaimed textiles, antique embellishments, and original silhouettes inspired by traditions throughout European history. Rooted in the idea of clothing as both artifact and identity, each garment is developed through a process of reconstruction, layering, and hand-finished detail, allowing every piece to exist as an individual object rather than a reproduced product. Surface, repair, and irregularity are embraced as part of the garment’s character, creating work that feels lived in, inherited, and deeply human.

Every piece is meticulously handcrafted in Los Angeles, California using a combination of vintage materials, reclaimed fabrics, antique buttons, visible mending, and custom detailing. No two garments are identical; each piece is produced as a true one-of-one, carrying its own variations in texture, construction, and finish. The atelier operates with an emphasis on human craftsmanship and intentional imperfection, rejecting mass production in favor of slow, manual construction where the presence of the maker remains visible within the work itself.

Pieces are released individually through website sales, direct email inquiry, and select retail partners that carry the brand. Due to the one-of-one nature of the garments, each available piece exists in a single size and cannot be reproduced exactly. Clients unable to find a suitable fit may inquire directly regarding custom commissions and made-to-order work developed specifically for the individual.

At its core, COSIMO HANSEN ATELIER exists to preserve the value of manmade clothing: garments shaped by hand, time, and process rather than automation. Each piece is intended to carry a sense of permanence, individuality, and craftsmanship through material, construction, and detail.
